(1/6) Flight of the Bumblebee (FOTBB) 🕊
Capsule collection designed by myself and @downgoesmiller during our gap year from FIT.
Inspired by our similar paths from the South (Baton Rouge & Atlanta) to NYC for school, we found a common connection to the 2002 film, Drumline—main character, Devin Miles, transitions from NYC to Atlanta A&T University on a drumline scholarship, despite not knowing how to read music. In a new environment and initially rough around the edges in our craft, each of our stories is Devin’s.
Along w stylistic design details inspired by the movie's costuming and themes of intuition, refinement, compromise, and especially ASCENSION, the collection also explores the contrast in dress between NYC and the South.
“Flight” and the recurring theme of ascension are also approached in a literal sense, pulling from details in bee anatomy, beekeeping attire, aviation gear, and unorthodox flight patterns.
